Loot Crate Unboxing – May 2015

Hello all, and welcome to another Loot Crate Unboxing!  This month’s theme is Unite, and we have quite the plethora of united things.  Let’s dive right in, shall we?

First up this month, we have another cool t-shirt from Flophouse featuring a split of the Green and White Power Ranger.  The design on this shirt is very well done and does a good job showing the change of the Ranger’s color.  It’s nice to have a grey shirt, especially when a lot of the last year’s worth of shirts have been black (they can get hot in the summer).  This is a fine addition to the closet of Looters everywhere.

Next we have piece one of three tying into the release of Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.  From the comic powerhouse themselves, Marvel contributes a great car decal featuring the movie title and figures of the team, including Vision.  I loved the movie and will look forward to tricking out my ride with this sweet decal.  Avengers… *inhale*

Gentlemen, I give you, more buttons!  I haven’t played but a couple times, but I recognize the popularity and team-mentality of Team Fortress 2.  So, it makes sense it would have something in this month’s crate.  We get a cool set of buttons from A Crowded Coop featuring the two teams and a couple iconic images from the game.  These will soon make their way to my Con bag.

This month we also see another exclusive comic book cover.  From BOOM! Studios, we have issue #1 of Bravest Warriors: Tales from the Holo John.  Personally, I’m not all that familiar with this title.  The artwork looks very similar to Adventure Time, a show that has yet to capture my interest.  I will likely read the comic, as I try not to dismiss things based on connection to something I don’t like.  I remain skeptical at this point, but variant covers are always cool.

Then we come to Marvel item 2 in this month’s crate.  From ICUP, Inc., a sizable ice cube tray featuring Cap’s shield, Iron Man’s helmet, Hulk’s fist, and Thing’s face.  I’m a little surprised they included Thing in this, since Marvel Studios doesn’t own the movie rights.  However, the Fantastic Four are one of Marvel’s biggest teams of heroes, and the theme is unite.  I look forward to chilling my beverages this summer with these large ice cubes, regardless of my concerns for the Fantastic Four movie coming out in a couple months.

Most people are familiar, at least casually, with MAD Magazine.  It’s been a big part of pop culture for decades now.  This month’s crate features a special Loot Crate edition of the magazine, featuring a play on the teaser poster for the upcoming Aquaman movie.  I look forward to reading it, as it apparently “lampoon[s] Justice League, Avengers and The Hobbit.”

The third and final Marvel item this month is a pair of 48″ shoe laces from Esquire Footwear.  They showcase several of the most popular marvel characters.  In my crate, I got the gray scale version of the laces, but some Looters got the full color version.  I’m a little sad I didn’t get the color version, but I do have a reason to buy a pair of shoes that won’t ever to go work now.  (I still haven’t made use of the lightning bolts from last August)

Lastly, we have a puzzle.  That’s right, a 300-piece jigsaw puzzle, and it features another show I know very little about: Rick and Morty.  I have heard good things about this show from my brother and a few friends.  I look forward to getting into the show and putting this puzzle together so I can glue it and put it up on the wall.

Well, that does it for the May crate.  What was your favorite bit of swag from this month?  Let me know in the comments!  Enjoy your day, dear reader!
