Loot Crate Unboxing – June 2015

Hello, readers!  Welcome to another Loot Crate unboxing!  Today, we look at June’s crate: Cyber.  This crate features cool robot and computer related things.  Let’s dive right in, shall we?

The first bit of exclusive loot this month, is a sheet of Nerd HQ stickers, from The Nerd Machine.  The Nerd Machine, and subsequently Nerd HQ, are the brainchildren of Zachary Levi.  Levi is an actor who is arguably best known for portraying the main character in TV’s Chuck.  Nerd HQ is put on by the Nerd Machine during San Diego Comic Con (coming up in about a week) and is an off-site location with a lot of tech and game options, and features panels and autograph signings with celebrities, all for a charity called Operation Smile.  It sounds like a lot of fun, and I really hope to be able to go some day.

Up next, we have another awesome t-shirt.  It features a mash up of Transformers and Tron, with Optimus Prime in the classic stance from the 1980s movie.  The leader of the Autobots even has the classic lighting, as though he’s on the Grid.  Overall, it’s a well-blended graphic and a very comfortable fabric to wear.

While I’m not as much of a PC gamer anymore, the size of the Borderlands gaming mouse pad is rather impressive.  The graphic of Zer0 is very well done and just gives me even more incentive to play the Borderlands games.  I know, I know, they’ve been out for a while now.  Give me a break.  I’ve pretty much always been behind the curve on the gaming front.

We also have two exclusive items related to the new Terminator: Genisys movie that is now out in theaters.  First of these, is a 1/2 scale T-800 endo skull replica.  This is the skull of the Arnold Schwarzenegger models.  It’s very intricate and pays a lot of attention to details.  All in all, a very cool piece.  The second, is a very heavy key chain modeled on the Terminator CPU brain chip.  Again, the attention to detail is impressive.  Given the weight of the chip though, I don’t think I’ll be adding it to my car keys any time soon.

One of the greatest sci-fi movies of the 1980s, Bladerunner introduced us to a future where Future Replicant Corporate makes various robots who nearly perfectly resemble anything from an owl, to a human being.  This month, we get a patch with the company’s logo so that we, too, can be “More Human than Human.”

Next, we have a very cool set of posters linked to one of the greatest space operas of the 21st century: Battlestar Galactica.  Just like on the shooting range of the oldest battlestar in the fleet, we can put up these two posters of the Cylon centurions and test our accuracy (admittedly, it’s recommended to use foam darts, and not actual bullets, unless you just really want to put bullet holes in the poster).  I had the pleasure of meeting the Admiral himself, Edward James Olmos, at Indy PopCon this past weekend and had him sign on of these cool posters.  He thought the posters were cool, and told me he’d never signed one before.  That makes mine the first!

Last, but not least, we have a zip up pencil pouch/gadget bag from good old Loot Crate Labs.  It’s blue (my favorite color) and features a very cool circuit board design.  Oh, did I mention it glows in the dark?  Well, it does.  Not to mention, the zipper pull has a carabiner on it, so you can clip it to things for easy carrying and quick access.

All in all, this was another fantastic haul from the folks at Loot Crate.  I’m excited to see what they do with July’s crate.  It’s going to be their first ever sequel: Heroes 2!  It will also mark one full year since I subscribed to the crates.  Well, I’ll see you next time for another unboxing!
