Loot Crate Unboxing – September 2015

Greetings Looters!  Welcome to another unboxing post.  This month, we have a new theme: Summon!

Our first summoned item doesn’t require a devil’s trap… or does it?  No, this doesn’t.  It’s a 1:43 scale version of the Winchester ride: THE 1967 Chevy Impala from Supernatural.  I’ll admit that I am not only a fan of this show, but of the car.  The first car I ever had was my grandfather’s 1977 Chevy Impala.  Yes, Sam and Dean have a ride 10 years older than mine was, but the old Impalas were good, sturdy cars.  What makes this an exclusive you ask?  Well, how about the fact that it has the original Kansas license plate, not the new Ohio one?

Up next, we have a small vinyl statue of Homer Simpson as the Golden Buddha.  It’s true that Springfield’s own has the body of the Buddha, but his teachings are no doubt different.  This is most obvious by the statue’s accompanying necklace and pretzel.  What do pretzels go with? Beer.  Mmmmm, beer.

While I would have preferred a different character, I am a fan of the Pokémon laplander from Bioworld.  I grew up with Generation I and the show, so I’ve loved Pokémon for a long time.  I’m also a big fan of hats, so I welcome the addition of this to my collection.  My only issue is the continued overuse of Pikachu, simply because he’s Ash’s starter.  I mean, c’mon folks.  Enough with the little yellow electric rat.

The last two items this month are both from Blizzard Entertainment and both correspond to their game, Hearthstone.  First of these, is the actual hearthstone stress ball.  It’s a cool piece, and well-shaped to hold in your hand and soothe your worries.  Second of these is the Hearthstone collectible coin and card pack with an in-game code.  I have dabbled in League of Legends, which I understand is similar in concept, so I look forward to trying out this growing game.

Well, that wraps up another great month of loot.  What was your favorite thing this month?  Let me know in the comments!  Until next time, readers, loot on!

Loot Crate Unboxing – December 2014

Welcome to life in the slow lane! Now that we are a week into 2015, it’s high time I got this done.   Ladies and gentlemen, the December 2014 Loot Crate!  The theme for the month: Anniversary.

A great early Christmas gift!
A great early Christmas gift!

First among the items is the Captain America air freshener.  I have to say, Cap has become my favorite Marvel character.  I feel like if I were in the Marvel universe, I would be Cap.  I’m not much to look at, but don’t enjoy seeing others bullied.  Going through Steve’s transformation to become the Super Soldier would be the most likely way I would get superpowers.  On another note, the Mega Man air freshener from the August Crate was out of freshening.

Next we have the exclusive Dancing Groot socks.  Who doesn’t love the walking tree with a very limited vocabulary?  Obviously the same people who don’t love puppies and sunshine.  The socks feel comfortable and will make a fine addition to my growing assortment of non-generic socks.

Another franchise with an anniversary in 2014 is Tetris.  Que repetitive 8-bit music which is now stuck in your head.  Crap, it’s stuck in mine too.  To celebrate, the 30th birthday of the game, we get some really cool stickers.  I’ll admit that I used a few to wrap the last couple Christmas presents I was giving because we ran out of tape.  So, I can vouch that they are cool and stick!  They even come with this nifty guide to make specific shapes out of the pieces!

Also turning 30, the Ghostbusters!  I particularly enjoy the door hanger that came with my crate.  It asks if the person entering is the Keymaster.  Get it? Because it’s the Gatemaster? Oh, well, if you don’t, then you must be a servant of Zuul and have no sense of humor.

It’s hard to believe how long the Simpsons have been around.  In a seeming homage to how much money the show has made, the characters are now on a wallet!  It’s a Mighty Wallet, so it’s made to last.  It may even outlast the show!

The last couple of items both tie into Batman’s 75th anniversary.  The first item being the exclusive Joker Batman from Funko POP!  It’s another Loot Crate exclusive from the popular Funko POP! folks, and it’s got quite a twist to it.  Although the suit looks like it should be the Dark Knight, the color scheme is that of the Crowned Prince of Crime.  Would this make him the Crowned Prince of the Dark? Or the Crime Knight, perhaps?

Lastly, we have an exclusive alternate artwork cover of Batman: Endgame, from the DC’s The New 52.  It also comes with a free digital download of Batman: Arkham Unhinged!  The Year of the Bat just keeps on giving!  I look forward to reading it.

Did you have a favorite item from the December crate?  Tell me about it in the comments!

P.S. – I almost forgot! Our benevolent Looting Overlords also handed out free trial subscriptions to Crunchy Roll, home to lots of anime and Asian dramas with professional subtitles.  Yes, that came straight off the card.
