Loot Crate Unboxing – October 2014

Hello there!  Welcome to my Loot Crate unboxing post!  Today, I’m looking at the October crate.  The theme: Fear.

Scary good stuff this month! Picture by me.

The ‘Death by Kitten’ t-shirt is a fun addition to this month’s crate.  It’s not overly fear-inducing, but it is comfortable.  The design is by Super 7 and features a bunch of cat pictures grouped together to form a skull.  I thought at first glance that it glowed in the dark.  Sadly, it does not.  It’s still a cool shirt, though.

A fun little bonus item this month is a piece of Toxic Waste sour candy.  You may notice that mine is not in the picture.  That’s because I already let my wife eat it.  She said it was very sour, which means she must have liked it. (She likes sour candy a lot.)

Up next, we have the Dead Rising 3 Sledgesaw Hammer pen from CAPCOM and Loot Crate Labs.  It’s a very well done little piece that’s lighter than it looks.  The saw section is removed from the end of the hammer to make use of the pen.  It should do a fine job of killing the zombies it draws (in the action I see in my head).

I will admit that I have never seen the astoundingly popular Sharknado movie.  It honestly sounds like a waste of my time to me.  But, I have thumbed through the book How to Survive a Sharknado and Other Unnatural Disasters from Random House Publishing in this month’s crate.  It is quite the amusing read.  From descriptions of the cataclysms, to the made-up ‘studies’ documenting how to deal with each event, the book is at times entertaining, but does lead to a lot of face-palming.

There’s another exclusive cover comic in this month’s crate: Issue #132 of The Walking Dead.  It features what appears to be a zombie woman, in a loot crate tank or sports bra.  Since I have not actually read any of the comics, nor seen any of season 4 of 5, I will probably hold off on reading this for a while.  However, I do look forward to reading it.

Sticking with The Walking Dead, there’s a cool postcard-sized piece of art with Daryl and Merle Dixon from SuperEmoFriends by JSalvador.  It depicts Daryl just after finding his brother as a walker, Evil Dead hand and all.  It has a fairly calm look about it, which is a far cry from the action- and suspense-packed show.  A very nice piece of art.

Speaking of biting, there are some pretty gnarly looking bites and slashes temporary tattoos from Loot Crate Labs in this crate.  I’m not sure when I’ll use them, as it’s been many moons since I wore temporary tattoos.  But I’m sure they’ll come in handy some day.

We also have another special unlock for the game Smite, from Super7.  I’ve never played this game, or even heard of it, but the download looks pretty cool.  It lets you unlock a character called Thanatos and a special Jack the Ripper skin for him.  He looks pretty awesome, not gonna lie.

That pretty much wraps up this treasure trove of death and scary.  I did get one other thing of a personal nature: my official Loot Crate Member card and ID#! Woo-hoo!  Let me know what you think of this month’s crate in the comments below.
